AMD Ryzen X3D gaming PCs

What does 3D V-Cache bring to a gaming PC?

AMD Ryzen X3D processors use additional stacked L3 cache. This can benefit games that repeatedly access suitable data, but the difference varies with the game and the rest of the hardware. X3D is a specific processor feature to consider when choosing a PC, rather than a promise of a fixed frame rate.

When is an X3D processor worth choosing?

X3D is particularly worth investigating when you want high frame rates and your chosen game is limited by the processor. Look at tests of the games you actually play, using comparable hardware and settings. At higher resolutions or with demanding graphics effects, the graphics card may become the limiting factor. Spending more on the CPU will not necessarily provide a proportionate improvement.

Pairing X3D with GeForce or Radeon

Choosing an X3D processor does not tie you to one graphics brand. Compare the available NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon builds around your games, resolution and preferred graphics features. Leave enough of your budget for the GPU. Then choose memory, SSD storage and cooling from the options available for your selected PC.

Choosing an X3D PC for gaming and everyday use

For a machine used mainly for gaming, compare the specific processor models in your favourite games. Extra cores may be useful if you also render, edit video or run other demanding applications. Evaluate those workloads separately from gaming performance. Configure the available components around your needs instead of choosing only by the processor family's tier.

Questions about X3D gaming PCs

Is every Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9 an X3D processor?

No. Check the full processor name. It must include X3D to qualify for this selection; the Ryzen family name alone is not enough.

Is X3D useful for 4K gaming?

It depends on the game, settings and graphics card. When performance is limited by the GPU, the extra benefit may be smaller. Compare complete configurations.

Can I customise my X3D gaming PC?

Yes, using the options available for the chosen model. Before ordering, check that your selected processor is still an X3D model.
